Hi,
When I try to update as above it fails with the error messageChecking file permissions in Joomla it states the log folder is writeable. Looking in the log directory I see it has created a file joomla_update.php so that seems proof positive that it is writeable.
I don't see anywhere in Joomla to set an FTP Client other than configuration.php and that has the correct settings.
